Civil War Uniform Set of George Brown Eckert, 3rd United States Infantry,from Reading, Pa. Eckert served as a musician in Company A 25th Pennsylvania Volunteers from April to July 1861. He was appointed as a 2nd Lieut., 3rd U. S. Infantry  5 August 1861 and  was promoted to 1st lieutenant 12 March 1862 , serving with the regiment until May 1863. During his term of service the regiment was engaged in the Peninsula Campaign, The Seven Days, South Mountain, Antietam, Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville. Eckert commanded Company C of the regiment until 1863. He was wounded at the Second Battle of Bull Run and  resigned in November 1864.
